Mary Alice is a Marriage and Family Therapist based in Houston, Texas.

Mary Alice’s expertise in working with expecting and new parents in the Houston area spans the length of a decade, first as a birth and postpartum doula, and later as a midwife (LM, CPM). Although she loved supporting moms in their birth choices, she felt most in tune fostering the mental health of her patients: holding space for losses, listening to worries, and providing pragmatic resources for the everyday struggles of new parenthood. This led Mary Alice to make a shift from midwife to therapist, earning her MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, with a focus in perinatal mental health to continue her work with new mothers and families.

Mary Alice is a member of Postpartum Support International and has specialized training in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders. She has additional training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy and is Gottman Method Couples Therapy Level 1 certified. She approaches therapy from a collaborative and client-centered perspective using models such as IFS, Narrative Therapy, and Solutions-Focused Therapy.

Mary Alice sees clients in-person at her office in central Houston as well as online via teletherapy throughout Texas.

Mary Alice is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist - Associate practicing at The Center for Postpartum Family Health under the supervision of Kim Jones, M.A., LMFT-S.
